Humanists of North Alabama News! 2019-11-13

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”― Marcel Proust

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
― Epicurus

The Humanists of North Alabama are still looking for new leadership! We need three people to form a non-profit group (Articles of Incorporation) and develop Bylaws.

Sunday, November 17:

Monthly Discussion meeting (2:00-3:30 pm)– Meeting this month is the Huntsville Public Library on Monroe Street in Huntsville, in Meeting Room C (near to the Foundation Board room on the second floor).  What humanist ideal is on your mind? This is our last formal discussion meeting of the year. We may discontinue this unless new leadership steps in. (leader will have support on Social Media, email, and website.)

“Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.” ― Oliver Sacks, Gratitude

Monday, December 16: 6:00-7:30pm: (NOTE Date and Location change)

Philosophy Café. We are moving to Madison in December at Sam and Greg’s, 365 Hughes Road (just north of Madison Pike/Brown’s Ferry Rd) for a trial run there. Join us for open and relaxed discussion on philosophical topics, while we enjoying beverages, pizzas, sandwiches and gelato. New faces are always welcome.  (The group will decide to meet here in 2020, or another location in Huntsville, or two meetings a month – one at each city.)

“Got no checkbooks, got no banks. Still I’d like to express my thanks – I’ve got the sun in the mornin’ and the moon at night.” ― Irving Berlin
